Plain key/value pairs available to every step in a project.
this page on cid.pumpkins.devOpen a project's Environment tab, and add key/value pairs under Variables. Values are stored and displayed in plain text — the list shows the actual value next to each key.
Every variable in a project is exported as a shell environment variable to every step of every workflow in that project. There's no way to scope a variable to just one workflow or one step. On a shared project, owners, admins and members can see variables, and only owners and admins can change them.
| Where the step runs | Read a variable named BUILDER |
|---|---|
| This computer, Command Prompt | %BUILDER% |
| This computer, PowerShell | $env:BUILDER |
| This computer, Git Bash | $BUILDER |
| A server | $BUILDER |
Names can use letters, numbers and _, and can't start with a number. The copy button next to a variable copies its value.
For anything sensitive — API keys, passwords, tokens — use Secrets instead.
