Format, validate and minify JSON. Get the exact line and column of every error, fix sloppy JSON in one click, and explore big documents as a tree.
Input
Output
“Trailing comma before }” at line 12, column 4 beats “Unexpected token”. The line is highlighted and Fix repairs the usual suspects.
Collapse big documents, expand what matters, and click any value to copy its path, like $.users[0].email.
Parsing happens in your browser. API responses with tokens or personal data never leave the page.
// faq
Yes. The JSON is parsed and formatted by code running in your browser; nothing is sent to a server or saved. Only your view settings are remembered. A share link does contain the JSON, so only share it when that's what you want.
It reads your input as JSON5, a relaxed superset of JSON, and writes it back as strict JSON. That removes comments and trailing commas, converts single-quoted strings to double quotes, and quotes bare property names.
Many formatters run JSON.parse, which silently rounds integers above 2^53, so an ID like 18446744073709551615 comes back changed. This tool keeps every number exactly as written. (Fix is the exception: it goes through JavaScript numbers.)
Formatted JSON adds line breaks and indentation so people can read it. Minified JSON removes all optional whitespace to make it as small as possible for sending over the network or storing.
The same property name appears twice in one object. It's technically allowed, but almost every parser keeps only the last value, so the first one is silently lost. It usually points to a copy-paste mistake.
